Almost 5 months after the end of the 2022 club season ended with victory against St.Colmcilles, Curraha began the 2023 campaign as they welcomed St. Peters Dunboyne to Joe McDermott Park for this Feis Cup clash. With a number of players involved on County teams and various others unavailable, this was a much changed Curraha line up.

What had started put as a bright Spring morning, descended into a cold, wet & windy afternoon, with conditions far from ideal for the 3pm throw-in. The opening exchanges predictably scrappy, with neither side able to stamp their authority on the game. Curraha shaded proceedings in the opening half, however some wayward finishing undermined some excellent approach play. With scores at a premium, the half finished at 3 points apiece, with James McEntee accounting for all of the hosts scores.

Dunboyne were quick out of the blocks at the start of the second half, notching 3 scores in the first 5 minutes. They added 2 more scores later in the half, with the only Curraha responses coming from a further score for McEntee, and a point for Conor Moriarty.

This was a decent overall performance from Curraha with some very positive aspects to the performance. The lineup featured a number of last years championship winning Under 20 team, and it was great to see Cian Heagney make his senior debut.

Next up is a trip to Enfield to face Na Fianna next Saturday.
